Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis recommends Richard Feynman’s book

Google AI CEO Demis Hassabis, a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, was recognised for his work in protein structure guess. Once he shared the book that has quite influenced him the most as a student.

In an interview held in Stockholm for the 2024 Nobel Prize ceremony, he said, "I really recommend to any students watching this to read those books”, adding, “I think he really explains and gets across how enjoyable, how thrilling it is to be exploring at the frontiers of Science.”

In Demis Hassabis' book recommendation, he said the book conveys the joy of exploring science and emphasized that motivation can come from both mentors and the thoughts of great thinkers.

Hassabis also added, ‘a lot of it really comes from reading the greats and trying to know and take inspiration from them.’

Hassabis, who co-developed AlphaFold2, the AI system rightly revolutionizing protein structure forecast. He also explained that the book captures the pleasure of exploring science.

Beyond Feynman, Hassabis cited open minds like Alan Turing, Claude Shannon, and John von Neumann as determining influences. It is about crediting them for laying the bases of computing, artificial intelligence and information theory.

He also highlighted that the thinkers shaped his path in AI entrepreneurship and research.

Hassabis, who sold DeepMind to Google in 2014 for $650 million with an AI ethics board condition, said that curiosity-driven examination has been based to his career.

Feynman, a 1965 Nobel laureate in Physics, was called for his groundbreaking work in quantum physics and particle physics. It is about to his wit and original approach to learning.
